I have created a separate library in Plex for Rifftrax videos (if you're not familiar, it's a lot like MST3k), but I have a strange issue periodically where Plex will decide to forget the Title of a movie and just replace it with what is basically the filename. For example, I can have a video, 'MyHorribleMovieHD.mp4' add it to the library folder for this library, and let Plex scan it and add it to the library. It can't find a match for this movie, so it sets the title to 'MyHorribleMovieHD'.
I manually change the title to 'My Horrible Movie' in Plex. This is fine for a while, but at some later point, I can rescan the library, and Plex decides to change the title back to 'MyHorribleMovieHD'. This was annoying at first, but now that I have dozens of videos that it does this to, it's become a huge pain.To make matters worse, I can't reproduce it with regularity. If I correct the title of the movie, and then immediately force another re-scan of the library, my corrected title stays.
It's only at some later point that another re-scan results in Plex changing the title again.Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this?I've got the library configured as follows, in case it matters:. Type: Movie.
Scanner: Plex Video Files Scanner. Agent: Plex Movie. PMS version 1.7.3.3937 (Mac OS), Plex Pass channel.
Because of the nature of the videos, some of them are on IMDB and some are not, so I've chosen to treat them as if they are home movies; I'm not counting on finding matches on IMDB, I'm assuming I will have to fill out metadata myself. From what I can see, the metadata fields are locked automatically (the lock icon turns orange) after you manually modify them. This doesn't seem to have any impact on the issue.Another oddity that I've just remembered here: sometimes this issue corrects itself simply by viewing the metadata for the video. For example, I can have a video that, when browsing the library, appears to have the wrong title. I click the pencil icon to edit the movie, and once the edit overlay appears, I see that the video actually has the correct title in the metadata. If I close (Cancel, not Save) the edit overlay, the title displayed in the library is now magically correct. Maybe this is just a Plex issue?.
